ENGEL. has grown up, time for a new adventure, a new owner and for me
Time to let go.
I am proud to announce that last week ENGEL. was acquired by the enthusiastic and passionate company SENSO Retail B.V.. Over the past few years, they have achieved great things with various business activities. For them, it is the right moment to expand this with ENGEL. to create even more beautiful products that bring ‘colour’ to our world. For SENSO, it is time to look forward, but I would like to take one last look back with you in this, my final message.
It all started almost 20 years ago in the Jordaan district of Amsterdam. I made the first fabric bunting for my daughter Bibi. My collection of old fabrics came in handy. Now I love traditions and thought a forever bunting would be a good idea. So I carefully sewed the first bunting together on my grandma's old sewing machine. Not knowing that two years later, fabric bunting would turn out to be a gap in the market. This is how ENGEL. was born.
ENGEL. , a playground, a sweet shop, a dream world that has brought colour to my life for over 17 years. We have created products that have helped so many people remember to ‘celebrate life’ and hang up the bunting themselves. When I step into the world of ENGEL. myself, the little girl in me does a joyful little jump. Perhaps ENGEL. awakens the child in you a little bit too?
The fabric bunting, our bag collection, and many more decorative products are all
products that make you happy. They bring a smile to your face. Your heart skips a beat, and you marvel just as perhaps you might when seeing a rainbow or the setting sun painting the sky pink.
In 17 years, ENGEL. grew into a mature company where it wasn't just about the fabrics anymore
slingers are waving in many places, but the rich collection of bags can also be found worldwide.
Infinite memories, collaborations, fantastic clients and adventures make this a special time for me and my colleagues. Especially Aisa, with whom I have laughed so much over 12 years and so enjoyed working with. We regularly said the words: ‘Luckily, it never gets boring!’
If you're reading this, you're probably one of those people I'm grateful to, with whom I've laughed or collaborated. Or perhaps you're one of those people who has seen, felt, or contributed to ENGEL.'s love in any way.
To all our customers, big or small, you have always remained loyal to us and have seen us through. I am incredibly grateful for everything you have made possible for ENGEL. and for me.
Today I am proud to announce that I have had the courage to let go, be grateful, trust, and fully welcome the new owners. ENGEL. has matured and is going her own way, and what a more comforting thought than knowing she is in good hands and can stand on her own feet.
Alex and Lisa, best of luck, happiness and fun with ENGEL. Thank you for your trust and I am sure you will create many more beautiful products that will make people happy. ENGEL. has come of age, for me now it's time to let go.
